Welcome to the NCSYBL Manager & Coach page. The NCSYBL Board and parents would like to thank you for your interest in volunteering as a manager or coach.
Managers and coaches take on a great responsibility. They need to posses the skills of a teacher, organizer, and mentor of baseball to children between 3 1/2 and 14 years old.
At NCSYBL, we take your position very seriously and expect adult staff to conduct themselves with honor, integrity, and respect for the game, NCSYBL players, fellow coaches – and the NCSYBL Boardmembers. We also expect managers and coaches to read and follow all of NCSYBL’s Rules & Regulations, NCS rules, and County of Los Angeles policies concerning the operations of our league.
The first form required is the “Manager/Coach Application”. Managers will need to complete this form and email/deliver it to the appropriate Division Commissioner or other Boardmember by the deadline set by the Board. If you are a returning manager and your application has not been received before the deadline, you will lose your status as a “returning manager” and it may impact your priority for being awarded a team.
If your application has been reteived before the deadline, it will be reviewed by the NCSYBL Rules Committee for approval. Managers are approved based upon not only their knowledge of baseball, but also their ability to provide fair leadership, maintain discipline, build team loyalty, and demonstrate good sportsmanship through their own action. Completion of an application does not guarantee approval as a manager – nor does approval as a manager guarantee that you will be awarded a team. Distribution of teams to approved managers is covered in NCSYBL rules and largely depends on returning and new player counts.
After player counts have been established, managers will be ratified by the Board of Directors.
Managers approved for teams will need to immediately recruit an assistant coach(s). It will be the manager’s responsibility to ensure all coaching staff members complete a manager/coach application and ensure it is delivered to your respective Division Commissioner.
If you are fortunate enough to receive a team, you and any adult volunteer on your team will need to be fingerprinted via Live Scan. No parent may be on the field during a game or practice that has not been Live Scan fingerprinted. NCSYBL will arrange a time and place for Live Scans.
The Board and/or your Division Commissioner will explain the other forms on this page (including Team Roster, Game Report, and other forms) at the Manager Meeting PRIOR to player selection.
